What’s F.I.M.?

F.I.M.:
- is a non-profit federation of professionals;
- is constituted according to the norms of the Region Lombardy;
- was founded on May 14th, 1998, with a Notarial Act and Statute;
- created a PROFESSIONAL REGISTER for the protection of both professionals and users;
- is accredited by the Ministry of the Public Instruction;
- is registered to the EMTC (European Music Therapy Confederation and to the WFMT (World Federation of Music Therapy).

In 2001 F.I.M. issued its DEONTOLOGICAL CODE.

The goals of F.I.M., profit aims excluded, are:
- to outline the professional profile of music therapeutists, professionals with an in-depth musical and cultural knowledge and with a training which allows them to apply individual therapies with autonomy;
- to outline the professional profile of music therapists, professionals who work within a team in public or private institutions;
- to undertake initiatives aimed at the promotion of the quality and the practice of music therapy, sponsors seminars for highly specialized post-diploma and post graduate in music therapy at: A.P.M.M., Aleph, L’indaco, Gruppo Musicoterapia Veneto.

Institutional Aspects

At a regional level

F.I.M.:
- is registered to the Regional Register of the non-profit Associations of Lombardy with Decree number: n. 31366 of 14-12-2001;
- is engaged at the Region Lombardy for the acknowledgment of music therapy as a new profession .

At a National level

F.I.M.:
- Body accredited by the Ministry of the Public Instruction, is registered in the list of the Accredited Bodies with Ministerial Decree 177/2000, protocol. N. 4420/C/3/A, on 12th January 2005;
- since 2001, it has been registered to the CNEL (National Council Economy), body engaged in the acknowledgment of new professions;
- Since 2001 it has been registered to the CoLaP (Coordination of the Free Professional Associations).

Activities

F.I.M.:
- sponsors training courses, seminars, meetings, concerts, symposiums and cultural initiatives for Bodies, Institutions, Associations or specialised centres, all qualified according to the professional standards that it recognises;
- sponsors the cultural and professionals initiatives promoted by its members;
- organises congresses on Music therapy; the 1st Congress "Il Suono della Vita"(The Sound of Life) was organised in Assisi, in June 2000.

During the 2nd congress on Music Therapy which will be held in Sicily in autumn 2005, the proceedings of the congress held in 2000 will be presented.

The 2nd Congress will be titled “Il canto Originario”, (The Original Song) music and epistemological foundations of Music therapy.

Fees

- Single fee of € 40,00.
This fee includes the registration to CNEL (National Council for Economics and Labour which is following the political and institutional procedure for the acknowledgement of new professions).€
- € 70,00 new registrations including one-year fee (€ 40,00).

Prof. Giulia Cremaschi Trovesi, founder of the model of humanistic music therapy used at the moment at A.P.M.M. "Giulia Cremaschi Trovesi" (Association Musical Pedagogy and Music Therapy).

Vice-president:

Dr Mauro Scardovelli, psychotherapist and music therapist, founder of the integrated and humanistic P.N.L. (Association Aleph, Genoa).

Counsellors:

Dr. Simona Colpani, psychopedagogist, member of the Board of Directors. Founder, together with Prof. Giulia Cremaschi Trovesi of the “Circular Relationship" (A.P.M.M. of Bergamo).

Prof. Anna Boesso, teacher of piano and music therapist (Vicenza).

Prof. Mario Zattin, graduated in piano, remedial teacher and music therapist (Padua).

Secretary: Dr. Simona Ghezzi, graduated in philosophy and piano at the conservatory; music therapist (Milan).
