Children brain paralysis

Age of development

Precocious intervention in children having brain lesions and/or epilepsy.
Interventions in children affected by cytomegalovirus, leucomalacies, problems due to delivery.

Aims

Taking care of the child to instil in the mother a new confidence in life. The quality of the relation and attachment mother-son is determining for the future. A mother rediscovers the necessary confidence and tenacity when she shares the progresses of her child. The Circular Relationship is the way in which the music therapist, the co-therapist and the parent (or parents) share the same experiences asking about the behaviour of the child and appreciating new gestures, actions and the participation of the child. On the other hand, the child, acting, reveals its way of going on, learning and opening to life.

Scientific Aspects

The unconditioned welcoming (overcoming of judgement) of the child is the internal mood which allows to approach him in a constructive way, in the respect of his subjectivity. The efficiency of the “Body Resonance” is also shown in a subjective way. A child affected by Children brain paralysis is different from another child affected by the same trauma. For this reason, the dialogue that is created in music therapy (non verbal communication based on the clinical improvisation at the piano through body resonance) is different for every child. The presence of parents (at least one parent) creates a similarity between the way in which the child is treated at home and in music therapy. Every progress of the child is then shared by the parent who learns to focus and appreciate any progress of the child.
